“Minimal Composite Equations A new way to analyse nonparallel Flow instability” |
Abstract |
Shear flow instability is generally
addressed using the parallel flow. Orr-Sommerfeld equation, which is
strictly valid only for There are cases (e.g. the classical mixing layer)
where this approach leads to qualitatively incorrect results. The
lecture will describe what we have called the `minimal composite equation’
approach (developed with Rama Govindarajan), and the light this
approach can shed on a variety of shear-flow instability problems. |
