" Multiresolution analysis (MRA) and Wavelets "

Abstract

Wavelet is a square (Lebesgue) integrable function on a subset of the real line, whose integer translates and dyadic dilates form anorthonormal basis for the whole space of square integrable functions.Multiresolution analysis (MRA)is a method used for constructing such wavelet functions. In the first seminar, we look at the definition, some examples of an MRA and two theorems that establish the(inter)dependence of the properties used to define an MRA. In the second seminar, we shall look at its applications in solving PDEs.
