PDE Models Arising in Multi - Scale Problems, Control and Inverse Problems and Fluid Dynamics

As  a part of its series of annual thematic programmes in mathematics, the IISc Mathematics Initiative (IMI) announces the Annual Thematic Year in PDE Models Arising in Multi-Scale Problems, Control and Inverse Problems and Fluid Dynamics, beginning August 2009. It is known that PDE's arise as models representing various phenomena ocurring in nature or in man - made structures. This thematic year will be devoted to various aspects of PDE models coming from Multi-scale, control, inverse and fluid problems incorporating multi-scale structures. These are actively and currently pursued research directions throughout the world. We propose to have the following workshops/conferences during the thematic year.

We specially encourage young researchers and well prepared and enthusiastic students to attend these programmes. This will be good platform for the youngsters to start their research career. Refer to http://math.iisc.ernet.in/~imi for the dates and other details. Depending on the number of applicants and infrastructure available, we may have to be selective. We shall pay the round-trip train fare and provide adequate local expenses for the participants selected. This is a preliminary information Brochure, a detailed Brochure on each program will appear at appropriate time.

Those interested in participating in any of the activities under the annual thematic programme are encouraged to contact one of the Organizers at imi@math.iisc.ernet.in
