About IIT Ropar :


Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar is one of the eight new IITs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to expand the reach and enhance the quality of technical education in the country. This institute is committed to providing state-of-the-art technical education in a variety of fields and also for facilitating transmission of knowledge in keeping with the latest developments in pedagogy.


About Ropar :


The town of Ropar, also called Rupnagar, lies on the bank of Satluj river and the Shivalik hill range spreads along the opposite bank of the river. It is 42 kms to the northwest of Chandigarh (the nearest airport), the capital of Panjab. The Bhakra Dam in Nangal lies on the boundary with the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh. There are many historical and religious places in and around Ropar. It lies on the highway en route Manali. The climate is characterized by a hot summer and a cold winter. The period from about middle of November to February is the cold season.
