SEMINARS / COLLOQUIA
SEMINAR ON NEAR UNSUPERVISED LEARNING (NUL): WHEN DOES "KNOWING A LITTLE" CAN BE POWERFUL?
ABSTRACT When you know only a little about the data you have, it is challenging to make conclusions out of the data, although this may be the case for many real world data mining problems. We know something about the data, but not enough to be certain. We still keep guessing until we arrive at a conclusion. For example, we see some vague features of an image, but not clear enough to identify what it is. The concept and the algorithm development on near unsupervised learning and the application in various biological data mining problems will be discussed. Some “unusual” features and signatures captured by the author’s team will be presented. Some interesting real problems solved by his team will be presented. ALL ARE WELCOME
