About Ropar :
The town of Ropar, also called Rupnagar, lies on the bank of Satluj river
and the Shivalik hill range spreads along the opposite bank of the river.
It is 42 kms to the northwest of Chandigarh (the nearest airport), the
capital of Panjab. The Bhakra Dam in Nangal lies on the boundary with the
neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh. There are many historical and
religious places in and around Ropar. It lies on the highway en route
Manali. The climate is characterized by a hot summer and a cold winter. The
period from about middle of November to February is the cold season.
