I will be offering a course entitled MA-312 Commutative Algebra during the January-April 2011 semester.

This course is intended for the students of Integrated Ph D and Ph D Programmes in the Department of Mathematics. However, this course is open to all students/faculty who are interested. All those who wish to participate in this course are most welcome!! Please send an e-mail for participation or meet me for suggestions and comments on any working day between 09:30 and 18:00.

It will be a (almost) self- contained course, however, basic knowledge of Linear Algebra, Algebra, Analysis and Topology will help participants to appreciate and enjoy this course. The emphasis will be given to motivate the development of important concepts using as many examples as possible. These examples will range from routine to fairly sophisticated ones.

Special effort will be made to encourage the participants to ask questions, raise doubts and seek clarifications in the class-room itself.
