Abstract : We define the attenuated Radon transform (ART) with a positive smooth attenuation coefficient on $\mathbbR^2$. Integral transforms like the ART are used to model tomography involving unknown radiation sources inside the body being imaged. We study the problem of recovering the attenuation coefficient from observed data, using microlocal and linearization techniques. This is joint work with Allan Greenleaf.
